This is the ‘moment’ in the rhythm of our week that we choose to come together as a faith community to express our solidarity in Jesus. There is something about joining together in the dynamic nature of participating in communal faith.
These times usually reflect 5 aspects of our common ‘way of life’ as followers of Jesus. We simply endeavour to;
Esteem God: We are unashamed about placing God in his rightful place in our lives so when we come together we take time to celebrate and redirect our attention to the one we have chosen to give our lives to.
Encounter his presence: As we celebrate, hear and internalise his word participate in the shared meal and engage with one another there is an expectation that we will ‘meet with God.’ This will inevitably mean different things to different people so defining or prescribing what this may look like is not the intention but rather our heart is to providing an environment that is conducive for people to experience the reality of Gods power and presence as they come together.
Examine our lives: The reality of life is that we are often torn between the cravings of the world and the values of God's kingdom, that’s just how life is. Nevertheless, it is helpful to take time out and re-examine our lives, gain perspective and to realign our life with God's way of doing things.
Engage with His Word: It’s not always easy to navigate life as God has intended it but one thing is for sure if we don’t at least digest his word and allow it to define our way of life then its going to be difficult to traverse our circumstances with hope, purpose and understanding.
Enjoy fellowship! The reality of Christian spirituality is that it's a communal way of life.
