This is the ‘moment’ in the rhythm of our week that we choose to come together as a faith community to express our solidarity in Jesus.
There is something about joining together in the dynamic nature of participating in communal faith.

Fifth Sunday of the Month

On the fifth Sunday of a Month we like to have a much more "fellowship oriented" gathering. We share in food, drink, one another's lives and a few games when we can.
Sometimes we could be at a beach if the weather permits, or maybe even at the Shoalhaven river with some Finska or cricket in the mix.
Details will be provided in advance at our church gatherings and the calendar will have our location.

SMALL GROUPS.....

At Nowra Church of Christ, we believe that faith is far more than a simple gathering on a Sunday. Throughout the week we have multiple small groups made up in a variety of styles and demographics that love to meet, share life and delve into faith and the word in their own individual ways.
Joining a small group is a fantastic way to press further into the lord and make lifelong friends who you can really do the journey of life with.
Please get in touch with us should you be looking to join a small group at Nowra Church of Christ.

WHO IS JESUS?

John 1:1-3 declares, "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning. Through him, all things were made; without him, nothing was made that has been made." Here, Jesus is identified as the Word (Logos), who existed alongside God the Father from the very beginning of creation and is, in fact, God Himself.

Continuing on in John 10:30, Jesus says this; "I and the Father are one." Jesus himself affirms his oneness with the Father, emphasizing unity and coequality within the Godhead.

In John 14:9, Jesus explicitly tells his disciples, "Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father," continuing the affirmation of his nature. The apostle Paul also contributes to the understanding the nature of Jesus, as he refers to Jesus as the "image of the invisible God" in Colossians 1:15.
Jesus is God, the Messiah, made flesh to dwell amongst us, as the apostle Peter himself declares in Matthew 16:16. He came to bring true life, restoration to the Lord, through his death on the cross, a price paid on our behalf.
But that can sound pretty full on or confusing, maybe not very relatable or personal. But here is the thing, Jesus is ENTIRELY personal. There is a story of a bunch of sheep, 100 to be exact, and 1 pesky one from amongst the 100, the one that probably bleated too loud and would get under your feet. Now, this 1 sheep decided to go for a wander, and eventually was separated from the 99.

Jesus is the guy who went looking for the one because he cared about it. Yep, he cared about the sheep that was annoying, head-strong, had unorthodox ideas or was a bit uncertain in life. He cared about that little fella and went and got it. Why? Because that’s who Jesus is, he loves fiercely, deeply and with a consistency that is unmatched.

Crazy thing is this: he already feels all of that for you. He has wanted to be with you, love you, guide you and grow you from before time. The only thing that stops anyone from experiencing this from him is our humanity, our desire to believe we are the biggest picture in the tapestry of life. Well, I would invite you to step back, realise that you are a wonderfully made artwork that has a role to play in the larger picture that is life. Will you not just ask, “are you there Jesus”, but would you be brave enough to listen to his response?

Q & A's

Here's some answers to some common questions.
What is your church like?
We are friendly, our environment is relaxed, our music is great, our teaching is from God and our hospitality is welcoming.
When can I come?
We have lots of ways to connect through the week. Sunday gathering, midweek small groups, men's/women's events, kid's groups. Get into contact with us to find where you can join in.
Do you have a dress code?
No, there is no dress code. Everything from suit and tie to board shorts and t-shirts, dress shoes to no shoes. Everything is welcome. It's the person that is important, not how they look. (Just keep in mind if what you are wearing may be deemed offensive)
What about my kids?
Of course kids are welcome. We have a team of volunteers who run a safe, fun and interactive program each Sunday. All our volunteers are trained in safe ministry practice and have Working With Children Checks.
